I’ve been collecting great ideas for a wonderful fall series and wanted to give you updates about what to expect and some recent happenings! Due to a death in the family and some tech hiccups, the blog has been a bit sporadic. Thanks for your patience as we fixed everything! And nurtured our family for a while. Sometimes it’s important to slow down and simplify things while caring for one another. The good news, now, is I will share great content and hopefully some neat guest authors this fall.
From entertaining posts we’re looking at changes at Disneyland (what will Star Wars Land look like?) and behind the scenes with the Incredibles, to Egyptian sunken treasures in St. Louis, writing resources for every age of writer, gem and jewelry exhibits, and ideas for building your own fairy land. On the deeper side, I’ve gotten requests for posting resources for wildfire and flood victims, so we’ll revisit that, as well as thoughts about how to preserve your own dreams, both for writers and life in general, during a challenging season in life.
AND!!!! I promised my kids when my just-for-fun gnome Instagram (@gnomenwisdom) hit 100 followers we’d have a huge giveaway, so…
Fall Giveaways
This summer I visited some amazing authors including Mary Weber, Sara Ella, Lindsay Franklin, and S.D. Grimm and brought home treasures to share with you all! I have several signed editions of great fantasy authors that will be featured on the blog and, because I always like sparkle, a grand prize of a beautiful jewelry box to remind one lucky participant (in the U.S.) how special they are this fall! If you’re already signed up for my blogs, you’re automatically entered. If not, simply subscribe and you’ll be added to the drawings!
Details: Three separate giveaways will happen for the books in the photo in upcoming posts. Then there will be a Grand Prize given with the jewelry box, sparkling key chain, leather journal with tree imprint, surprise necklace charm from Hawaii, magnetic bookmarks from Houghton Hall in England, and special encouraging sayings from the Magnolia Market in Texas! (Cute gnomes and accessories not included, only for U.S. residents). If you want to increase your chances, and be helpful in general, recommend the blog to your friends and just email me or let me know on my social media that you’ve recommended people (with names) on the “giveaway” posts so I can double-count you. My email is evantassel at mac.com.
Recent Happenings
I’ve started blogging for KidLitCraft.com and you can find my first post HERE about how to choose a different way to keep your writing dreams growing—the writer’s retreat! There are lots of great posts by middle grade writers and authors on the site. Come join in the fun!
In September, I spoke to the Northwest Christian Writers Association, sharing our wildfire story and my encouragement for writers when life throws an unexpected curve or big loss in their paths. While I was in Seattle, I discovered some amazing pockets of creativity (and a love for gnomes there, too!!). I’ll be sharing fun ideas and also deeper thoughts from this message along the way too.
You’ll continue to find posts for Marvelous Middle Grade Mondays a couple times per month, as well as recommendations and reviews for popular fantasy works for young adult, and some exceptional children’s books I’ve come across recently.
Best wishes for a wonderful, happy, and peaceful fall season!
